Oakley Court is a recently renovated Victorian Gothic Mansion House set in 35 acres on the River Thames in Windsor, and now home to a Living Hut. Recently delivered, this shepherd's hut hideaway bar is now positioned along the riverside, ready to serve guests this summer.
Using their Soho House colour scheme we created a rustic outdoor bar that fits in perfectly with the surroundings of the garden. Our hut has a raw galvanised roof that will age beautifully over time. We also made them a bespoke serving platform, constructed from raw timber and a custom handrail. It looks great now… but we cannot wait for it to settle in!
If you are looking for a weekend away in the countryside, then you need to take a visit! With nature trails along the banks of the River Thames, complimentary bicycles, self-drive boats and a newly placed living hut in their al-fresco dining area. A Rookery Retreat
We were over the moon to be able to help the Rookery Retreat team start their shepherd hut journey with the commission of a customised Type 4 hut.
Nestled on 500 acres of a traditional beef and sheep farm in Devon, you can find a living hut! We were over the moon to be able to help the Rookery Retreat team start their shepherd hut journey with the commission of a customised Type 4 hut.
With views for miles and nature walks through the forest, this hut is decorated to a Scandinavian feel, with a kitchen overlooking the rolling countryside and a rainfall shower styled like a luxury hotel room. The outside of the hut is finished in a deep navy blue with matching timber-framed windows and a barn door. Our authentic forged wheels look perfect in place in this spot, bringing an industrial feel in tandem with the luxury interior. It's also fitted with a hobbit stove so guests can have cosy nights in, perfect for Autumn and Winter.

Our shepherd hut wheels
The wheels on our shepherd huts are a key feature and really add character to our bespoke huts.
The wheels on our shepherd huts are a key feature and really add character to our bespoke huts. We get a lot of questions about where our wheels are from. No… they are not original wheels, BUT they are moulded from original wheels from an amazing Norfolk foundry
We have kept our cast iron wheels looking as close to the original as possible with a few added touches like our logo added to one of the spokes. We offer two different size wheels, 24’’ and 32’’ depending on customer preference. Centuries ago, a shepherd hut was a small portable home for shepherds to tend their flocks around lambing season. They needed to be durable and portable for horses to be able to pull through rural areas, so back then the bigger the wheels, the better!
We like to keep as many aspects of the craftsmanship and heritage of an original shepherd hut, including our wheels crafted by a time-served master blacksmith.
